A Variety of Round Accent Tables for the Home
While it would be great to think that all your home ever needs is a couple of end tables, a coffee table and some upholstered furnishings to look complete, savvy designers will tell you that the devil is in the details.
While the major pieces of the room do indeed set the tone, the smaller ones, the accent pieces, make it look complete and cohesive. They can support the general look of the room or add just a little contrast, creating visual interest that wouldn’t be there otherwise.
This is where round accent tables serve such a vital purpose. They can add additional display space for family photos, collectibles, antiques or knickknacks or serve as additional space for food and beverages for a party.

Quite frankly, round accent tables really don’t have to do anything at all to be appreciated. You don’t need to coddle them or embellish them with decorative items. By their very nature, they are a really showstopper in any room you add them to, largely because they tend to be more ornate and refined than the other pieces that you have.
They truly are accents for the room. Some round accent tables are stunning pieces in their own right, with lavish or highly detailed designs and carved elements that make them highly decorative as well as functional.
Because they come in so many sizes, the tables can fit in nearly any location in a room that begs to have a piece of furniture. They can go between a pair of occasional chairs, be pressed into service as end tables, or even be used in place of the coffee table. This is particularly true of nested tables, since you can utilize the three or four tables to create a multi-level coffee table that is as useful as it is a conversation piece.

One of the great things about round accent tables is that they are more informal than their square or rectangular counterparts. The soft edges promote a relaxed look, especially if the rest of your furniture has a more angular look to it. This will create a lovely balance in your furnishings, a yin and yang arrangement that is both rigid and relaxed.
When shopping for the perfect round accent tables, pay particular attention to the size of the table. Because they are round they have a different visual weight than a rectangular or square table of the same square footage. They will also tend to stick out a little more into the traffic areas too, since they don’t nest up directly against your sofa, love seat or other upholstered pieces. As such, you’ll want to factor in these differences.
If you’re shopping online for these tables, the task is simplified because online stores give you the diameter of each table. If you want to really get a sense of its scale, you can cut out the same sized circle out of a piece of paper or a piece of cardboard and lay it in the space you’re thinking about putting a table. If it’s too large for the space, you can continue to trim it until it looks right. When it does, measure the circle again and look for round accent tables that are that diameter.

One of the great things about these tables is that they all have different personalities. This is another reason why shopping online is a good idea, at least initially. Not only will you find a huge selection, but you can comparison shop easily, copying and pasting your favorite tables into a single folder. From there you can refine your selections and decide on the round accent table or tables that are perfect for you
